| Description | The L Magazine is a Brooklyn, NY-based free bi-weekly publication covering arts and culture. Its named after the L Subway train, which runs from 8th Ave. and 14th St. in Manhattan, New York City to the Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Though the magazine does give coverage to national arts events, its focus is on Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan. It is the highest circulation publication aimed at the 21-to-34 demographic in New York City.
The L Magazine was founded by Scott Stedman in 2003 in a one-bedroom apartment. Stedman previously worked as a reporter for MIT's Technology Review. The magazine has since published nearly 200 issues. The L Magazine has an extensive web site featuring much of the magazine's content and also other exclusive features, film reviews and listings. The online version of the L Magazine is maintained by Assistant Editor Mark Asch. |
