| Description | The Aquarian Weekly is an independent weekly paper based in Little Falls, NJ, but also distributed in the area surrounding New York City. The paper covers both national and regional artists. The Aquarian primarily covers rock music, though political features and local reports augment that coverage. It also has show listings and classified advertisements. It has a circulation of over 30,000.
The Aquarian Weekly was founded in 1969 with a focus on war commentary and film. In 1985 the paper changed formats and was renamed the East Coast Rocker. The name was changed back in 1993 after a second content reformatting. The Aquarian's Web site contains reviews, interviews, features and other content, some of which cannot be found in print. The Aquarian also hosts promotional giveaways and contests. Regular prizes include concert tickets, musical instruments and memorabilia. In 2007, the Aquarian, in partnership with SonicBids, hosted a music competition for unsigned artists. The grand prize was an opportunity to play at the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey. Winners were announced in April. Registration for the 2008 competition is available online at the Break Contest's Web page. The competition is only open to bands from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. |
