Topic(s): Snobbery
Snobbery on The Music Snob is for musicians to contribute insights and observations on the making of music and the industry surrounding it. It is intended to be informative and/or generate productive discourse.
For example, it might be helpful to know that a particular promoter is well-connected in the Asian jazz-fusion market. Or that a venue has little walk-in traffic, and so bands from out of town may not want to play there if they don't have an existing fan base.
A Snobbery section of an article is a great place to offer your own personal insights into an article's topic. Because The Music Snob strives for usefulness and clarity, we recommend putting any subjective observations in a separate section from the descriptive and factual information that typically begins an article. This helps orient readers and contributors.
For examples of this, see:
In another instance, a user may want to present an entire article devoted to their critical perspective or experience with an aspect of the music industry.
In the Snobbery section, you could present a "how-to" essay about selling music on MySpace, or an analysis of your favorite band's latest masterpiece.
For an example of a humorous Snobbery essay, see Bass Players with Picks.
