Description Punk Magazine is a New York City independent music publication. Punk has gone through two publication cycles: with infrequent releases between 1977 and 1979 and with quarterly releases from 2006 to present. Punk is perhaps best known for its comic illustrations and gritty design. Its cover price varies, but standard issues cost $5.95.

Punk began as a fanzine in the 1970s, created by John Holmstrom, Ged Dunn and editor Roderick "Legs" McNeil. The fanzine contained a mixture of comic illustrations, social commentary and punk music reviews.

In 2006, Punk relaunched in print and online as a quarterly magazine with John Holmstrom at the helm once again. The content largely follows the format of the original magazine. The most recent issue of Punk includes a tribute to the now-defunct CBGBs and its recently deceased founder, Hilly Krystal.
