| Description | New York Press is a free weekly alternative newspaper distributed in the New York City area.
New York Press was founded in 1988 to provide a more conservative counterpart to the liberally minded Village Voice, which was, and remains, the country's largest free weekly. New York Press Founder Russ Smith sold the paper in 2003 to Avalon Equity Partners. Avalon Equity sold the paper in July 2007 to Manhattan Media, a neighborhood paper conglomerate. |
