Description	Matchless is a bar and music space in Brooklyn, NY. Though more renowned as a bar than a venue, shows at the club are becoming increasingly more popular. The show room can hold approximately 75 people, though especially packed shows have eclipsed that mark. The majority of shows at Matchless are no charge, but donations are encouraged. Details	Matchless boasts a fairly complete backline. There is a Peavey combo, a Hartke Bass combo and a Ludwig drumkit.

Pros	Since shows are generally free, shows are well-attended. Matchless is a great place for a young band to find an audience. Many of the bartenders are also bookers and musicians, too. If you’re in the area, going to the bar and talking with someone there is a good way to get on a bill or set up your own event. Solo performances from the members of various popular bands are not uncommon. Crowds are usually generous with donations. The room boasts surprisingly good sound.
Cons	Donation system means bands are not guaranteed a take. When the bar gets really packed, noise can bleed into the venue, making it especially tough for quieter acts to hold a crowd’s attention. The stage is relatively small, making it difficult for even a five-piece band to fit their equipment.

Open Mic Times	Sunday, 9pm
Open Mic Description	Local Correspondents, a Brooklyn-based music community, runs a weekly open mic on Sundays starting at 9pm. The open mic is run from behind the bar, where Tanya Buziak pours drinks and manages the sign-up. The open mic attracts a range of singer-songwriters and acoustic rock oriented performers.

Pros	The open mic has a very informal atmosphere, with no moderator introducing acts. Tanya reminds performers of who's up next, and they quietly take the stage. The regulars tend to be of a slightly higher caliber than at some of the other open mics in NYC. The crowd is generally receptive and respectful to performers.
Cons	Sign-up starts early, often around 6:30pm, and fills up quickly.
