Description Christophe Landon, Rare Violins, Inc. is a New York City violin and string instrument store owned and operated by celebrated French luthier Christophe Landon. In addition to custom violins, Landon is available for bow making and violin repairs and restorations.

Landon has been making and selling violins since age 15. His craftsmanship came to critical attention during the 1980s. He won first prize at the 1986 Maurice Vieux competition. He has also won awards for Viola making. Landon studied instrument design in France and opened Christophe Landon, Rare Violins, Inc. in 1986. In 1996, Landon was featured in Strings magazine. He has co-authored books on the history of violin making and is currently working on several biographies of famous luthiers.

In addition to violins from classic makers like 1600s Italian luthier Nicolo Amati, Rare Violins, Inc. has turn-of-the-century American violins and a large selection of cellos from all periods.
