Who

Stats:

I’m 29 years old. Live most in NYC, but sometimes in Connecticut. Current listening delights include My Morning Jacket and Seun Kuti. I’m a musician, and release my music under the name “The B-Flat Project,” which is here:Bbelief.

This is how I sometimes appear:

I’m going to use this blog to talk about how to promote music. Mostly by looking at various technologies, tips, tricks, services, products, et al that are floating around.

I want to answer these questions:

  • What should musicians with limited budgets be focusing on?
  • What services are going to help me sell the most music?

As I go about trying stuff on my own, I hope to create dialogue within the music community and offer a place where we can share good ideas.

Humor

You may have come across some ridiculous posts that bear little resemblance to the others here. I’ve taken it upon myself to create occasional humorous posts that somehow mix music with real life in bizarre and mostly fictional ways. This helps preserve my sanity and reminds me that all things need not be serious, all the time.

My two favorite humorous post so far are:

War On Terror Responsible for Drop in CD Sales

Appetite for Western Destruction

What’s TheMusicSnob Wiki all about?
The wiki site functions similarly to Wikipedia, and is meant to be an innovative, open-source directory of all things related to creating and promoting music. It can be edited by anyone, and I hope that as it grows, musicians everywhere share insights on it to help each other out. The name of the site is tongue-in-cheek, since the site welcomes anyone’s content, ideas and opinions. I hope that the collective experience and wisdom of the music community creates the ultimate cyberspace “snob,” but a kind and gentle snob, inclined to help musicians out.
